The Gordon Clan history came from obscure origins in 12th century Berwickshire, The Gordons became the greatest clan in North East Scotland. Wielding great influence from their base in the huntly area of Aberdeenshire.

The Gordon's initially did not support Robert the Bruce but changed allegiance to Robert I prior to his victory at Bannockburn shaping the family destiny and its importance within Scotland.

The most famous of the Gordon Clan was George Hamilton the 4th Earl of Aberdeen who became the British Prime Minister in 1852 and took the country into the Crimean war. Which after his mismanagement of the war, forced his resignation.
